Hela: of Mice & Magic Co-op, Split-screen & Crossplay

At a glance

The Demo supports two-player local split-screen. The full game is planned for up to four online players with crossplay, with a maximum of two local players per device.

Demo versus full game

Mode PC Demo Full game plan
Solo Yes Yes
Local split-screen Up to 2 players Up to 2 players per device
Native online co-op No Up to 4 players total
Local and online combined Remote Play streams local play Supported, within the 4-player total
Crossplay No native online mode Announced for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2

Four players on one device in split-screen is not supported. For the full game, four-player co-op means online play, potentially combined with local pairs on separate devices.

Playing the Demo remotely

Steam Remote Play Together streams the host’s local two-player session. Only the host needs to download the Demo. Your friend connects as the second local input rather than joining a native Hela online lobby.

If joining from the main menu triggers a network error, try the developer’s join-order workaround.

Full-game crossplay

Crossplay was announced for the full game’s planned December 1, 2026 launch. Up to four players are planned to be able to play together across PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

This announcement applies to the full game. It does not add native online multiplayer to the Demo.

Does crossplay include cross-save or a Friend’s Pass?

Friend’s Pass purchase and access rules have not been announced. Cross-save and account invitation details are also not confirmed. Do not treat Steam Remote Play Together as a promise about the full game’s Friend’s Pass.
