Before you start
The Hela Demo is a small standalone adventure with its own map and story. You can play alone or with a second player in local split-screen. It introduces Froggy, Shades, environmental puzzles and optional rituals.
There is no brewing or character customization in the Demo. Those systems belong to the full game.
Where to get the Demo
The free PC Demo was announced for Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store. On Hela’s Steam page, look for the Demo download rather than the full-game purchase or wishlist button.
The Steam Demo has been extended through November 9, 2026. An exact closing hour and time zone have not been announced. Availability after that date, including for an already installed copy, is not guaranteed.
Can you save and come back later?
No. The Demo does not save progress. If you quit, the next session starts again. Plan to play in one sitting if you want to reach the ending.
Demo progress will not carry over to the full game. You can replay the Demo after completing it.
Playing with a friend
The Demo supports one player or two local players. It has no native online multiplayer. Steam Remote Play Together can stream that local session to a friend; see co-op and split-screen for the difference.
Where to go next
Start with the Demo objectives, or jump to the four-plate cave door if you are already at the entrance.
